Elegant Great Room
The great room (or 'living room') of Villa Castellamonte is found just off the entrance hall. Occupying well over 700 square feet with tray ceilings soaring as high as 15', the great room offers a warm, inviting place to entertain visitors and friends. Plush, overstuffed furniture presents luxurious seating surrounding a hand-carved gas fireplace with side views over the ocean.
The furnishings of the great room are as spectacular as the rest of the villa. While elegant and luxurious, they are also welcoming and comfortable. Go ahead and fling yourself down on the couch for a nap; no one will think anything of it! The great room may be great, but it still retains the warm, friendly ambiance of the rest of the villa.
Sitting in one of the couches or chairs in the great room offers a unique perspective on the house. From one position you can see all of the way to each end of the huge house. At the same time you have the mountains on one side and the ocean on the other. North, south, east and west you will find many equally beautiful vistas competing for your attention.
Gracing a prominent wall in the great room is one of the most spectacular hand painted wall murals you have ever seen. Originally painted by the famous Danish artist Carl Frederic Aagaard (1833-1895), Villa Castellamonte boasts many replications of his magnificent Italian works. Our own commissioned artist, Guillermo Estrada, has captured both the detail and beauty found in the original paintings.
